In a world where nearly every task can be completed online, it’s imperative to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their devices against cyber attacks. Online Safety is a broad subject that encompasses everything from avoiding scams, to creating strong passwords. It’s important for people of all ages to take the appropriate precautions.

For instance, it’s suggested that kids use a nickname or username that does not reveal their age or gender online, and that they avoid games that feature chat functions. It is also important to be careful when downloading free games, screensavers, and other downloads, since they could contain viruses that can infect computers. In addition, they should be aware of the possibility for cyber-attacks like phishing and always check that a site is legitimate before entering sensitive information such as their email address or bank account number.

Businesses should prioritise safety online by implementing strict security and data privacy practices. This will allow them to maintain consumer trust but also avoid financial or legal consequences if the cyber attack occurs. Moreover, it will differentiate them from other companies that do not put customer requirements at the top of their list.

It’s also important to teach children to be responsible digital citizens by talking openly about risks online restricting their use of technology (using apps like Apple’s Screen Time) and educating them on safe conduct. These steps will help us reduce the four main online risks that children and teens face.
